What the app does
Build your s(h)elf
Five books that define you, plus what you just finished, are reading now and will read next. Eight slots, each with a short note on why. Your shelf is your profile — no age, no gender, no swiping.
Talk about the book
Every book has its own room. It opens for you as long as the book is on your shelf, and everyone in it has read or is reading the same thing. The conversation starts with the book, not with small talk.
Match by overlap
When you and someone else share 3 or more books, you can message each other directly. The five core books can only be changed once a month — they are who you are, not a feed.
Who is behind it: date-a-book is a project by Jan Mühlig (relevantive) and Wolf Tress (Otherland bookstore), started during a long trip from Southern Germany to Berlin. Otherland’s readers are the first to try it. It is an early test version: things will change, and your feedback shapes it. Books come from Open Library and ISBNdb; your shelf and chats are visible to members only. otherland-berlin.de · relevantive.de
